Although the IB refers to itself without the 'O' these days, it is still very much an 'organisation'. Meaning it is BIG. So, sometimes, despite their wonderful and lofty mission they do not functionally or directly address students on their website. I have linked the VA course page here for you; go and have a look around, download what you can and soak it all up. I didn't use the IB logo because I don't have the offical press-kit, a screenshot would land me in trouble :-)

New to me, Smarthistory has a clearly defined idealogical goal that relates to setting right some of what they see as old, established wrongs in terms of the writing of history. I am a big fan of sharing different perspectives, so have at it. The site is well laid out and seemingly hiding nothing about their agenda, which is refreshing, because at least you know how they want you to view things. If only more sites, traditional and progressive (and MSM channels) were as honest as this :-)

Possibly the most valuable asset for students in the IBDP Visual Arts programme is a free, well organised, well explained and large supply of primary source videos, artists speaking to camera about their work, their themes, their processes. You can search by theme, medium or narrative and the resource is always growing. Specifically focuses on contemporary art.

When I am working I always turn to Bandcamp for my background ambient music. Bandcamp is a wonderful 'unsigned' music acts site that has a huge variety/cross-section for you to choose from, whatever gets you working. If it's sludge doom, then rock your socks, they have it. And it's free.

I have long been a fan of this chap. He really understands how artists in different discipline use their different but related languages (painting/photography/film/poetry etc) to communicate meaning. And that is vital for IBVA studets to understand, are that isn't communicated something is called decoration. You should have a lot of fun learning with this fellow.

I haven't really even dented this site because it is pretty comprehensive. I can say, though, that it looks authentically valuable to students because it is made by someone who started it when they were a student and kept going! Why you need a web site of you are serious about art and about promoting your work, plus much, much more. Looks to be excellent value.

Reader friendly site that introduces artists, movements, genres and contexts. Includes timelines. 53 million viewers can't be wrong :-) My own personal age guide is 16+ for content and idea covered.
