Services for Students

Sessions are 1 hour long and the recommendation is to hold 1 session per week over consecutive weeks for maximization, although individual circumstances may necessitate bespoke arrangements on occasion.

Extra individual sessions can be added but not subtracted from a course; this is due to all courses being based on understanding and application of process; this process is taught, consolidated and extended over ten sessions in each course.

aRTedu uses a combination of in-house support materials plus a complimentary access for each student to the Think IB Visual Arts site. (https://thinkib.net/visualarts)

Beginner

Solutions for students new to the study of DP Visual Arts, Y1. These sessions can also be taken as a summer course prior to starting the IBDP (recommended). This is an opportunity to understand what is at the heart of the IBDP course and how to apply that knowledge in order to be successful through making interesting and accomplished work. Outline in Table 1.

Intermediate

Students most likely in the latter stages of DP Y1. This is an opportunity for students to consolidate and grow understanding of the process, keep ideas flowing, be challengedto attain a higher level of sophistication in their work. Outline in Table 2.

Advanced

Students possibly in the latter stages of DP1, most likely in the early stages of DP2. This is an opportunity for students who already have a well-developed set of technical skills and are habitually exploring ideas at a sophisticated level. These sessions are opportunities to discuss how to take their work to the next level of sophistication in terms of image making. Socratic (discovery) style discussion will be employed to support students in a process of review, reflect and refine to help make decisions that will see their work stand out from the rest. Outline in Table 3.
